No doubts about it there was PEACE in the air at the 94th Nimbin Show.
THE PEG REPORT visited the Show grounds off Sibling St, Nimbin last Sunday for some experimental reporting. Beautiful sunny days blessed the week end and everyone was happy. Big day for the kids and parents and the community had obviously gone all out to make it an eventful weekend. TPR wandered around and took in most of it; flower shows, snake handlers, cows, horses, music, duck races, serious community meetings about sustainability, ect (there was more)…, and saw one reporter mingling with the famous, Costa from ABC’s Gardening Australia… what more could we ask for? Costa and PEG reporter hit it off when the word PEACE was mentioned. Costa comes to Nimbin every now and again drawn here by the savy people in the area researching sustainability…, but thats another story. We saw him at the Nimbin Show sharing ideas at a community meeting to discuss a Food and Seed Bank… seeds are very important to these people and seeds just aint seeds. When one collects seeds only collect the best and healthiest., thats what genetics is all about (we were told.)
THE PEG REPORT gave Sustainable Alley 10/10 for taste and function.
Interesting to anyone who cares about our future and sustainability was Sustainability Alley. There was around 20 stalls of projects, research and ideas hosted by enthusiastic people willing to talk your ear off about their ideas, if you let them; everyone was sharing ideas, support and good vibes… very cool… THE PEG REPORT gave Sustainable Alley 10/10 for taste and function. A popular place to visit in the Alley was the Paddock to Plate Cafe that made great meals with local produce grown from within 30k of the showgrounds. The Alley also had the Speakers Tent which is where TPR saw Costa and friends passionately giving time and input with community into ideas to benefit all. Speakers came to the tent all day to talk about and demonstrate; renewable energies, composting toilets, bushfoods, seed saving, mushroom growing, caring for chickens, fermenting food and other topics. There was heaps of things in the Alley but this is about the Nimbin Show in general as experimental reporting.., so we moved on…
Never a dull moment and Nimbin never a town to shy away from the unusual.
Not a hint of trouble in the air… so to speak
Obviously a lot of time and preparation had been put in by a large percentage of the community and the show had a strong family friendly atmosphere. A strong strong sense of community self regulates what is the correct behaviour around children and people.., which should be normal anywhere. The Nimbin Show was a showcase not only in shows… but in behaviour without anything untoward and not a hint of trouble in the air… so to speak… completely family friendly.
Well it was a pretty big day with food, music animals, flowers, speakers..,
Nimbin being Nimbin, of course there was music and it was quality… THE PEG REPORT was mesmerised by some of the quality songs being performed. There was a lot to do and two days to do it in. THE PEG REPORT went home to the presses in the afternoon and was pretty dam tired but pretty impressed as well… what can we say…

Watch an excerpt of Costa from Gardening Australia and friends speaking at Nimbin Show here. A lovely man very passionate about what he does. Well liked and a regular visitor to Nimbin. He fits right in.
OK that was a great show and full of community spirit. Very friendly and great vibes as you would expect from a town famous for amongst other things, PEACE.
That’s it for this intrepid reporter and im tired just writing about the show… time for a cup of tea and kick back the friendly way.
